The reason why we should trust God is because of what He is. It is human nature to put our trust in ourselves, friends, relatives, finances, connections, etc. These are earthly things, which do not shape or have the power to change and correct our destiny. The Creator God is the only one who is the ‘Lord of time’ and ‘Master of Destiny.’ He and He alone can give us peace, joy, happiness, and eternal life. The Bible says in Psalms 118:8-9 “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. 9 It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.” The following are some reasons why we should put our trust in the Lord.
• He will never lie. God does not lie or even change His mind, as men often do. Numbers 23:19 “God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?”
• God is never changing. Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”
• He is faithful. II Timothy 2:13 “If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.” He is faithful. Because His very nature is faithfulness, He can only prove Himself faithful. He will not let anything, what people do, or any circumstance you are facing, come in the way of proving Himself faithful.
• He keeps His word. What He says He will do. What He says can already be considered done. Solomon declared that the Lord was trustworthy when He praised the Lord amid the Israelites I Kings 8:56 “Blessed be the LORD, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the hand of Moses his servant.”
• He will never forsake us. He made us, put His breath in us and He cannot forget us. His word promises that even though a mother might forget the child she bore, He will not be able to forget us. Isaiah 49:15-16 “Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee. 16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.”
• No one can ever withstand His power. He is all-powerful. II Chronicles 20:6 “And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?
• He knows our needs better than us. The maker of your soul is familiar with all your ways, Psalm 139:3 says. “So much so that He knows the number of hairs on your head.” Psalm 23 says that the Lord is our shepherd, our feeder. And as such we may contend that we shall not be in want of any good thing that is truly needed for life and godliness.
• Nothing is too hard for the Lord. Jeremiah 32:17 “Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:”
• He is a God of impossibilities. Luke 1:37: “With God, nothing will be impossible.” Luke 18:27: “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” If we trust in Him, He shall do the inconceivable and the impossible in our lives.
