The Great Almighty is a God who can do anything, even what the human mind cannot fathom. Just by word of mouth, he created the heavens and the earth. Jeremiah 32:17 “Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:” The Lord confirms in Jeremiah32:27 “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for Me?” Having understood the infinite power of the Lord we can willingly and safely surrender ourselves to him. Exodus 34:6 tells us “The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,” further in Psalms 145:9 “The LORD is good to all: and His tender mercies are over all His works.”
With this knowledge of the truth, a wise man will certainly put his entire trust in the Lord. The scriptures are full of examples that tell us of instances of trust in the Lord. One of the most wonderful truths about trusting in the Lord is given in Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” In order to reap the benefits of trusting God, there are some fundamentals:
• In Him and Him alone we shall trust. No double standards
• Psalms 146:3&5 “Do not put your trust in princes or in presidents, premiers, or prime ministers], in mortals, in whom there is no help…. Happy are those whose help is in the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord their God”
• The trust has to be hundred percent with no element of own understanding
If this is the way in which we trust the Lord then nothing is impossible. There are umpteen instances in the scriptures of trusting God. One outstanding instance is given below for strengthening our faith. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego trusted God when commanded by the king to bow down and worship the great golden statue, but they refused. Even though they knew the consequence was the fiery furnace, they refused to worship the idol. When King Nebuchadnezzar asked them, “What god will be able to rescue you from my power?” they answered, “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to rescue us. Even if He doesn’t, we will never serve your gods.” They trusted God to protect them; with blind trust and blind faith and with an outcome unknown, they refused to let the possibility of being burned to death break that trust. They were thrown into the furnace, but the most amazing thing happened. The Lord in whom they trusted himself came down to rescue and they were saved. Those who threw them in the fire were charred by the flame, but the flame bowed down before its Lord and lost its power to singe. The fire did not touch them for the Lord’s protection was on them. (Daniel 3)
Irrespective of the good or bad, God is always trustworthy in every situation. He is faithful and trustworthy to carry you through, protect you, and provide. God will never let you down. You are always better off trusting God than relying on anything or anyone else. Trust Him! Isaiah 41:10 “Fear you not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; yes, I will help you; yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.
