The Healing of God – Part VI

In the gospel of Matthew 10:1, Jesus blessed His apostles with the ability to heal sickness and expel evil forces. "And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.” When the apostles of Christ, after His resurrection and ascension, travelled and sought to establish the Christian church, they performed numerous miracles of healing while preaching the gospel and demonstrating the power of faith. The Lame Beggar Healed: Acts 3:1-10 Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour. And a man lame from birth was being carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple that is called the Beautiful Gate to ask alms of those entering the temple. Seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked to receive alms. And Peter directed his gaze at him, as did John, and said, "Look at us." And he fixed his attention on them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, "I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!" And he took him by the right hand and raised him up, and immediately his feet and ankles were made strong. And leaping up, he stood and began to walk, and entered the temple with them, walking and leaping and praising God. All the people saw him walking and praising God and recognised him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. In John 14:12, the Lord promised, “Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I am going to the Father.” On the day of Pentecost mentioned in Acts 2, the apostles received the Holy Spirit with power and confirmed the gospel teachings of the Lord with signs and wonders. The golden moment occurs in this miracle when Peter says ‘In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise and walk. And takes him by the right hand and lifts him up. The beggar, knowing fully well that he is lame, allows himself to be lifted, and to his joy, he finds that he can walk. It was his faith that he placed in the hands of Peter that did the miracle. Upon being healed, the man did not praise Peter and John but God because he knew where the power had come from. The people had seen this man many times, so they realised what an amazing miracle this was and wanted to hear more. Many people had gathered around, so Peter started telling them about Jesus. He said that God had sent Jesus to help everyone in the whole world. Peter told them that there was good news. Since God made Jesus their king through his death and resurrection, they could repent and have everlasting life. At the end of the day, it is faith that matters.
