The Healing of God- Part II · Ladder to Heaven

While there are umpteen examples of healing in the Bible, especially in the Old Testament, there are two examples discussed below that establish the magnanimity of the Great God. In all the healings of God, He displays His mighty power over life and death, over sickness and health, and even over destiny. He did so when He increased the life of King Hezekiah by fifteen years. The Lord declares in Jeremiah 32:27, “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?” Naaman cured of Leprosy: There was a Syrian commander by the name of Naaman who wanted to be healed of his leprosy. There was a little maid who waited on the mistress of Naaman. II Kings 5:3 “And she said unto her mistress, Would God my lord were with the prophet that is in Samaria! for he would recover him of his leprosy.” So, the king of Syria sent his commander to Israel to be healed. He came to Elisha. II Kings 5:10 “10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. He was told by the prophet Elisha to dip himself seven times in the Jordan River to be cured. We read the following. So, he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean. His coming to Israel displayed his faith in the God of the Jews. In this instance, the man who had the ailment needed to follow the specific instructions of the prophet of God to be healed. Otherwise, the healing would not have taken place. Naaman obeyed and was healed. King Hezekiah Healed: King Hezekiah of Judah was sick and near death. Isaiah, the prophet, told the king that he was going to die. Hezekiah prayed to the Lord to have his life extended as well as to be healed from his infirmity. God granted the request. He promised that the king would live another fifteen years. However, Isaiah ordered that figs were to be placed upon the boil of Hezekiah for him to be healed of his ailment. The Bible says. Then Isaiah said, “Take a lump of figs.” So, they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered” (II Kings 20:7 NKJV). It was only after Hezekiah complied with the command of the prophet and allowed the figs to be placed upon him that he was healed from his deadly sickness. In addition, the king lived fifteen more years as the Lord had promised. Thus, in both instances of Naaman and Hezekiah, each individual had to do something specific for the healing to take place.
