According to Wiktionary, this means “for ever and ever (not comparable) (biblical, Christian liturgy) Eternally; timelessly; with no beginning and no end. (As an intensifier) Forever.” The final part of the Lord’s prayer is a culmination of praise and glory to the lord. For ever and ever indicates the eternity of the Lord. His power, Kingdom, and Glory shall last forever. We read in the Bible that God is eternal. By definition, the word eternal means without an end and without a beginning, which is what God is. He has no end and no beginning and yet he is the beginning and the end of things. He was never created and is never able to experience death.
The eulogy clearly indicates that time has no hold on God. The reason is very simple. God created time. Time therefore submits to his master. God is thus above time. Since time defines a period, a space, a duration, and since time has been created by God, time cannot bind God. He is outside time and space. God therefore moves beyond time from everlasting to everlasting and from eternity past and eternity future.
In Psalm 145:13, we read that God’s dominion is eternal, “Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations.” Psalm 90:2 also notes this as an everlasting rule, “Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” God being eternal means that God’s dominance towards everything, living and non-living, or spiritual, is forever. It does not stop. His power is eternal. Romans 1:20 speaks of God’s “eternal power” and Deuteronomy 33:27 refers to the Lord as the “eternal God.”
God being eternal means he lives forever, and, in the same way, everything exists because of him and only him. We can read this in Isaiah 57:15, “For this is what the high and exalted One says — he who lives forever, whose name is holy: ‘I live in a high and holy place, but also with the one who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.’
By declaring that the kingdom, the power, and the glory belong to God, for ever and for ever, we are naming specifically that God is the creator of all things. We recognize that God is sovereign and rules over all things and that nothing can happen without God's knowledge. And we attribute all glory and honour to God alone. We affirm our trust and dependence on God. We recognize that everything belongs to God, and He has the power and authority to rule over all things. It’s a reminder that we are part of God’s kingdom, and we should live our lives in a way that glorifies Him. It’s a declaration of faith that God’s kingdom, power, and glory will never end.
